Hepburn and Leigh: For the independently-minded lingerie lover

Ayten Ivory Silk Dotty Camisole

Kiss Me Deadly

Size Guide

Ayten Gasson is a silk specialist who works by the seaside in Brighton. You can actually go see her, seriously, it's worth the trip!

This sleek camisole is bias cut, to flow over your curves. Bias cutting is rarely used these days as it uses more fabric and is more challenging to sew, but this was a classic technique in the 1930's.

It has matching adjustable silk straps for a flexible fit and luxurious finish. It's exclusively made for Kiss Me Deadly in deep, rich cream silk with a pattern of tiny trailing dots in warm tones. The bust and hem are trimmed in creamy cotton lace with scallops from one of the last remaining English lace mills.

Wear this very limited edition with the matching knicker, or layer it with your clothes for a touch of luxe with work or eveningwear.

The fit is similar to Kiss Me Deadly and bias cutting gives flexibility, but this is non-stretch silk so if you're worried then go up a size. Handmade in Brighton!  Very limited edition.

Sizing Advice

At Hepburn and Leigh, we understand that it can sometimes be hard to work out from photographs whether a certain style will fit. That's why we try to provide the best sizing help possible, and if you can't find the answer to your question on the website, you're always welcome to contact us. There are also individual size charts for each brand linked to at the bottom of the page.

Please remember that sizes are just arbitary numbers and letters - they're not personal; most of our brands are very small and have to make a decision about what size ranges to do based on their market, not on any aesthetics or value-judgements about sizes.

It may well help to measure yourself. On size charts, waist measurements usually refer to the smallest part of your middle, the blue line on the left, and hips around the fullest part of your body, the orange line.

When measuring for bras, the blue line is the underbust measurement and the orange is the overbust - it's placement may change depending on where the fullest part of your bust is.

Bra Band Sizes

In theory the UK and the USA use the same system for bra band sizes - meausre under your bust and add 4-5 inches to make an even number. In practise, different brands are using different methods and many UK brands, especially full bust brands, use your underbust measurement as your band size. US brands often run a touch larger (though notably not Elila or Rago).

Advice in the item description:

Whenever you click through to see the expanded view of a product, you'll see a description for the product. This should give you the basics - the style, the colour(s), the way the product fastens, the number of suspender clips it might have - and might also give some extra details. For example, if we find that a product is particularly stretchy, or that a style tends to run small, this is where we'll let you know.

Advice by brand:

Where possible, we try to provide the sizing information given by individual brands. Do check which brand you're buying when working out your size, as they can vary between companies, and even between styles. Please click through for more detailed information.
